Delete your Bantasy account

This page explains how to delete your account for Bantasy, the fantasy sports app by Bantasy Pty Ltd, and exactly what happens to your data when you do. It applies to the Bantasy Android app and the web app at app.bantasy.co. You do not need the app installed to make a request.

How to delete your account

In the app

The quickest way is to do it yourself. It takes under a minute and works in the Android app and the web app.

  1. Tap the profile icon at the top of the screen to open your profile menu.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the menu and tap Delete account.
  3. Tick I understand this is permanent and enter your password. We ask for it so that nobody who picks up your unlocked phone can delete your account.
  4. Tap Delete for good.

Your account is deleted straight away and you are signed out. If the password is wrong the app simply asks again. Beyond that, two things can stop a deletion, and in both of them nothing is deleted at all. The app refuses while we still owe you money: if a prize payout or a Creator commission has not reached you yet, it tells you so and explains what to do, and your account is left untouched until you have been paid. It also refuses if we cannot reach our billing provider to stop your membership, because deleting first could leave you paying for a membership you no longer have an account for. Try again shortly, or email us and we will do it for you.

If you have uninstalled the app

You do not need the app to make a request. Email us instead and we will do it for you.

  1. Email admin@bantasy.co from the email address on your Bantasy account, with the subject line Delete my account.
  2. Tell us your Bantasy username so we can find the right account.
  3. We reply to confirm it is really you before we delete anything. If we cannot verify the request came from the account holder, we will not action it.

Sending the request from the account email is what makes this work. We will not delete an account on the word of someone we cannot match to it.

Before you delete

Two things are worth sorting out first, because deletion is final.

  • Claim any winnings you are owed. If you have a prize or a payout that has not reached you yet, claim it before you ask us to delete your account. Once the account is gone we have no way to pay you.
  • Your membership ends with your account. Deleting ends your membership: you will not be charged again, and you lose access for the rest of the period you have paid for. Whether any of that is refundable is covered by our refunds and cancellation policy. If you only want to stop being billed, cancel your membership instead and keep the account.

What we delete

When we action the request we permanently remove the personal information that identifies you:

  • Your email address, username, display name, profile photo and date of birth.
  • Your password and every sign-in token on your account.
  • Your bank or payout details, if you gave them to us to receive a prize.
  • Your push notification tokens, so nothing we send can reach your device.
  • Your friends list and your blocked users list.
  • Your contact record with our email provider, so we stop emailing you.

What we keep, and why

Two things survive deletion. We are telling you plainly rather than burying it.

Your game history, with your name stripped off it

Competition results, ladder positions, squads and chat messages stay in place, but they are detached from you and shown as a deleted member. This is so the people you played against keep their own results. If we erased your entries outright, every leaderboard and head to head record you appeared in would change for everyone else, months after the fact. Once your account is gone, none of it is labelled with your name.

One thing about wording is worth stating plainly. In-app notifications are kept, and anything already delivered to another member, a notification or a message, keeps the exact wording it was sent with. Where that wording included the name you were using at the time, it stays as it was sent. We do not go back and rewrite messages other people have already received.

Financial records, for seven years

Payments, refunds, prize payouts and the ledger entries behind them are kept for seven years. Bantasy Pty Ltd is required to retain financial records under Australian company and tax law, and that obligation does not stop when you close your account. These records are held separately, used only for accounting, tax and legal purposes, and are not used to contact you or to rebuild your profile.

How long it takes

  • In the app, your account is deleted the moment you tap Delete for good.
  • By email, we acknowledge your request within 2 business days, and your account is closed and your personal information removed within 30 days.
  • Either way, encrypted backups cycle out on their own schedule, so a copy can persist in backup for up to a further 90 days. It is not used for anything, and it is overwritten in the normal course.

Deleting some data without deleting your account

You do not have to go all or nothing. Email admin@bantasy.co and ask us to remove specific information, for example your profile photo or your payout details, and we will action it and confirm within 30 days while your account stays open. The same address handles requests for a copy of what we hold and corrections to anything wrong.
